(I have had a very hard time translating this letter. Freda’s handwriting is harder to decipher than David’s. Below is what I have been able to transcribe, along with the scans of the letter. Please let us know if you can discern any of the words we have had a hard time with. Some of this might due to time period related jargon.)

Dear Sis –
Just see what you are missing – Dave and myself taking rides in a close car, a Ford. But they take a person just where you want to go. So I’ve call on Mrs Horn this AM – talk about smell – ha ha.
Well, I am still on the job so far, expect to sitck and see which kind good fellows in Chicago.
I erlain by was sorry that I did not see you before you left – for our house, as Dave said he had such a good time. has (???) as thought two was a couple and three a crowd.
Last Thursday Brother and I called on the Kahn’s and I went – (???? ???). Little girl Fanny that you spoke so much of, I must say she has the sweetest disposition. I am in love with her if only ever a young man I might cheat brother our of the chance. There is day and night between Flora and Fanny. Also called the ??? they surely are lovely people; also met Mr and Mrs Mlasky there. One of these fine nights Brother and I are going to play poker with the bunch.
Well Fanny dear, wrote and told mother about My brother being love with you and told her it is perfectly satisfactory she could rely on me telling her you were sweet and lovely jewish young lady. Now what do I get for that?
My dear sister wrote and said she is sending me a good looking hat – just like the ones I like. So after all I was in luck costing us only 3 bucks. I had priced (???) downtown and told from $20 up. That’s all. Sister is surely homesick for me always saying when are you coming back east. So next time she writes that I will say no I must (????) be bridesmaid at Brother’s wedding before I can return east. Give our regards to your folks with love to you.
