What is This?

UprootedOnline.org is a public project centered around several diverse family circles which have melded to form a unique ancestry tree. Through various genealogical projects, we aim to reincarnate history and highlight societal significance, from the mundane to the extravagant, all told through the eyes of a specific family as it winds its way through to modern life. We are just putting the initial touches to our first project, The Letters of David Eisman, an annotatable chronicle of a second generation Jewish German immigrant who pines for his paramour a thousand miles away. We intend for future projects to continue onward a wide focus.

Our project has been made possible through personal donations. The Letters of David Eisman were stored in a shoebox and kept the letters for several decades by Michael Colky who made them available to us to scan and publish online for all to see and annotate. He has our great appreciation.

Our second project, Foundations Uncovered, is being produced with our friends at Eyes of Sand Travelblog. Through several videos filmed on location in the fall of 2019, the series investigates three separate branches of the Groth family tree, which extends across different regions in Norway before converging in America. Part travel video, part genealogical exploration, we hope we can entice you to journey with us across the Land of the Midnight Sun.

The Uprooted Online team is a small group of family researchers and archivists working to build a aethestically pleasing and unique online resource which exemplifies the link between our shared histories.
